Believe it or not, different chromosomes prefer different environments. Y-chromosomes prefer alkaline and X-chromosomes like acidic. So if you’re looking for a boy, several weeks before you start trying to conceive, start eating a diet rich in potassium and sodium. For a girl, choose foods high in calcium and magnesium.

Timing Conception

Using an ovulation predictor to tell when ovulation begins and ends, and then attempting to conceive at the right time, may have an impact on your baby’s gender. For a girl, plan to have intercourse 2 to 3 days prior to the day you are scheduled to ovulate. (Male sperm are faster moving, so depositing them deeper puts them at the front of the race.) For agirl, shallow penetration is suggested (since the area just inside the vagina is more acidic, and therefore more conducive to conceiving a girl.) There is even some evidence to suggest that whether or not a woman achieves orgasm can have an impact on baby gender: for a boy, yes; for a girl, no.
